Andrew Cuomo Says ‘Incompetent Government Killed People’ While NY Has Second Highest Covid-19 Death Rate

by Dylan Housman
DailyCaller.com

Democratic New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said “incompetent government kills people” during an interview Tuesday with MSNBC while discussing government response to the coronavirus.

“Incompetent government kills people. More people died than needed to die in COVID. That’s the truth,” Cuomo said. Cuomo’s state of New York currently has the second-highest death rate in the country for the coronavirus, trailing only New Jersey, according to Heritage Foundation tracking as of Jan. 19.

“That’s why hearing President Biden is such a relief,” Cuomo went on to say. The New York Governor has been widely criticized for his decision to send COVID-19 patients into nursing homes, which coincided with the deaths of thousands of nursing home residents and workers in the state.

Anti-Trump Scholar: ‘Nearly Impossible’ to ‘Deprogram’ Millions of Trump Supporters

by Joshua Caplan
Breitbart.com

On Monday, the Washington Post published an op-ed by columnist Brian Klaas whereby he expresses the near futility of attempting to “deprogram” millions of Trump supporters, claiming that many have “gone far enough down the rabbit hole of conspiratorial thinking.”

The essay, titled “‘Why is it so hard to deprogram Trumpian conspiracy theorists?” depicts millions of Trump supporters as so devoted to “dangerous lunacy” that nearly all hope is lost of bringing them “back to reality.”

Referring to President Trump as “a conspiracy theorist in chief” who “injected the toxin of baseless conspiratorial thinking straight into America’s political bloodstream,” the essay claims that while only hundreds stormed the Capitol, “there are millions of Americans who share their views.”

Biden’s Commerce Secretary Nominee Says She’s Open to Tax Hike for Poorest Americans to Fund Climate Agenda

Comes as Biden has already killed hundreds of thousands of jobs after halting Keystone XL pipeline.

by Jamie White
Info Wars

Joe Biden’s commerce secretary nominee Gina Raimondo revealed that she’s receptive to raising taxes on the poorest Americans to help fund the left’s radical climate agenda.

During the confirmation hearing on Tuesday, Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) asked how Raimondo, the current Democrat Rhode Island governor, felt about a Democrat proposal to impose a gas tax on Americans, including low-income families.

“As Governor, I’m deeply in touch with how much increasing bills affect the average American family,” she began. “Having said that, we do need to, um, meet the climate change challenge and we need funds for improved infrastructure.”

MSM Admits: Vaccinated People Can Still Spread Covid

by Mac Slavo
SHTF Plan

The mainstream media is admitting that the COVID-19 vaccines aren’t working and can still spread the virus. That begs the question: why even bother getting it then and putting up with the side effects?

Well, the lockdowns and elimination of the middle class in order to usher in the Great Reset is one reason they want you to know the vaccines don’t work.

Covid “Mutation” Stories Show That The Lockdowns Are Designed To Last Forever

People who have received a Covid-19 vaccine could still pass the virus on to others and should continue following lockdown rules, England’s deputy chief medical officer has warned. -BBC

The ruling class needs everyone masked, afraid, and locked down so they can finish enslaving everyone.

Covid-19 Has Cost Global Workers $3.7 Trillion in Lost Earnings, Says ILO

Women and young workers bear brunt of job losses and reductions in hours, says UN labour body

by Richard Partington
The Guardian

The economic blow from Covid-19 has cost workers around the world $3.7tn (£2.7tn) in lost earnings, after the pandemic wiped out four times the number of working hours lost in the 2008 financial crisis, according to the UN’s labour body.

The International Labour Organization (ILO) said women and younger workers had borne the brunt of job losses and reductions in hours, and warned that people in sectors hardest hit by the crisis – such as hospitality and retail – risked being left behind when the economy recovered.

Sounding the alarm that entrenched levels of inequality risked becoming a defining feature of the economic rebound from Covid-19, the Geneva-based agency said that governments around the world needed to take urgent action to support those at the heart of the storm.

Yes, There IS a Crash Coming

by Karl Denninger
Market-Ticker.org

How do I know?

Because the shoe-shine boy bull**** is going on again.

Don’t get me wrong — I love the money to be made in the last phase of a blow-off like this and those with iron balls can make plenty of money on a crash too. Just be careful with anything that can get you in margin trouble and for the love of God do not short (or sell naked calls!) against anything spiking.

The two that have really gotten my attention of late are GME and BB. BlackBerry, as you know if you’ve read my column for a while, really does have something that the market is paying attention to now after several years. Chen has managed to turn the company into a security software suite powerhouse and while the wins so far are small in size the names he has those wins with are not. And — the firm is hiring, which nobody does when they’re in financial trouble (well, other than bankruptcy lawyers.)

The Fed Has a Problem: Yields Have Doubled on the 10-Year Treasury in Six Months, Despite the Fed Buying $400 Billion in Treasury Securities

by Pam Martens and Russ Martens
Wall Street on Parade

The chart above reminded us of what happened in the London Whale saga at JPMorgan Chase. The London derivatives traders at JPMorgan Chase were making such huge bets in a specific credit index that they effectively became the market with no escape route to unwind their losing trades. The bank had, insanely, used customer deposits to make those wild bets and ended up losing at least $6.2 billion.

Since August 6 of last year, the Fed has purchased $400 billion of U.S. Treasury notes and bonds. Despite that massive amount of propping up the market, the yield on the 10-year Treasury has more than doubled, from half of one percent to a yield of 1.05 percent at 7:30 a.m. this morning. That means that all of those billions of dollars in Treasuries that the Fed bought at lower yields are now trading at losses.

Home Prices Soar at 4.5 Times the Fed’s Inflation Target in All U.S. Cities

from Zero Hedge

The Fed’s most frequent lament is that no matter how many trillions in bonds (and stocks and ETFs) it buys or how much liquidity it forehoses into the market, it just can’t push inflation higher.

Well, here’s an idea: maybe all the central-planning megabrains at the Marriner Eccles building and 33 Liberty Street can take a break from whatever circle jerk they are engaged in right now, and look at the latest Case Shiller numbers which showed not only that home prices surged at the fastest pace in seven years, rising more than 9% compared to a year ago…

… but that for the first time since the financial crisis, the annual price increase in every major US MSA (and according to Case Shiller there are 20 of them) rose by at least 6.8% Y/Y (in the case of Las Vegas) and as much as 13.8% in Phoenix, meaning that the average home prices across all of the US is now rising at 4.5 times the Fed’s own inflation target, and even the cheapest US MSA is rising at more than 3 times the Fed’s inflation goal.

School Choice Spreads as Pandemic Public Education Falls Short

Plus: Church reopening case hits a wall, Supreme Court weighs in on Texas abortion law, and more…

by Elizabeth Nolan Brown
Reason.com

Across the country, a flurry of new legislation aims to expand educational options during the pandemic and beyond. Iowa is on its way to passing a major school choice bill backed by Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds. Nebraska may bring opportunities for homeschooled students to play team sports and participate in public school extracurriculars. Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Missouri, Vermont, and Washington state are also considering some positive changes.

In celebration of National School Choice Week, here’s a look at some of these reforms.

Iowa

A new proposal from Reynolds establishes school choice in Iowa by granting state scholarships to public school students who want to attend private schools. “We do not believe this is a private vs. public school debate. It is simply a school choice for the parents to choose,” said Anne Rohling, president of St. Albert Catholic School and a strong supporter of the proposal. “Open enrollment in the public schools [has] allowed families the opportunity to seek out the best fit for their children. If this legislation will empower more families to have more choices, then we are in support of it.”

The Attempt to Install a One-Party Oligarchy is Predestined to Fail

by Steve McCann
American Thinker

Scattered throughout the length and breadth of the United States are those who have experienced first-hand the tyranny of despotic rulers and repressive one-party oligarchies. Today, many of us that came here as refugees are watching with bemusement and a mild sense of trepidation as the oblivious, self-absorbed, puerile wannabe autocrats in the Ruling Class are hell-bent on imposing their dysfunctional version of one-party dictatorial rule on a nation they apparently neither know nor understand.

The vast bulk of this cadre of self-styled intellectuals and societal elites are little different from those in various European nations. They are not only beset with a severe case of narcissism but are among the most gullible and easily manipulated due to their overweening need to feel superior to those they perceive to be lesser fellow citizens. This sense of superiority eventually manifests itself in an immutable belief that they are preordained to rule the unwashed masses. Thus, they easily fall sway to a charismatic leader or are willing to accept any inane philosophical theory or deviancy that helps embed their status among the nation’s elites.

In a Paranoid Nation, “Treason” is Everywhere

by James Bovard
Mises.org

FBI agents across the nation are tracking down and arresting Trump supporters who walked into the US Capitol during the January 6 protest that turned into a brawl. Scores of protestors have already been charged with unlawful entry—“knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds without lawful authority.” The media is treating this as a heinous and self-evident offense, but my own experience at Washington protests makes me wary of treating transgressions as treason.

I roamed downtown Washington on the day before the inauguration. The city was a ghost town, and most of the stores were either boarded up or out of business. More than a dozen subway stops were barricaded shut to prevent any guys wearing furry hats with horns from suddenly appearing from underground to strike terror into the hearts of the media.

A Terrifying New Bill in Congress Would Eliminate the Possibility of Turning America Around in 2024, 2028 or Ever Again

by Michael Snyder
End of the American Dream

Have you heard about H.R. 1? If not, I would urge you to read the text of the bill immediately. It is called the “For The People Act”, and you can find it right here. The text of this bill specifically states that Congress has the “ultimate supervisory power over federal elections”, but of course anyone that is familiar with what the U.S. Constitution actually says knows that this is not true. The states are supposed to have final authority over their own election laws, and H.R. 1 is a blatant attempt to usurp that authority. Unfortunately, in the aftermath of the riot at the U.S. Capitol there are very few politicians in Washington that still have a willingness to stand up for election integrity. H.R. 1 is almost certainly going to get through the House of Representatives, and it has a really good chance of getting through the Senate as well.

If this legislation is approved, it will fundamentally change the nature of our federal elections forever.

And not in a good way.

Sarah is strong on Borders, tough on Crime, and fully supports the Second Amendment and our great law enforcement officers,” Trump wrote in a statement. “She loves our Military and Veterans – and her home state of Arkansas. ‘With This Win, We Can Move Forward‘: McConnell Says Eliminating Filibuster is Dead

by Hank Berrien
Daily Wire

On Monday night, GOP Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell declared that his battle to keep the Senate filibuster in place had been won.

McConnell released a statement reading:

Today, two Democratic Senators publicly confirmed they will not vote to end the legislative filibuster. They agree with President Biden’s and my view that no Senate majority should destroy the right of future minorities of both parties to help shape legislation. The legislative filibuster was a key part of the foundation beneath the Senate’s last 50-50 power-sharing agreement in 2001. With these assurance, I look forward to moving ahead with a power-sharing agreement modeled on that precedent.

Virginia Rule Allowing Late Ballots Missing Postmark Was Illegal, Court Rules

by Thomas Catenacci
DailyCaller.com

The Virginia Board of Elections rule allowing officials to count ballots that arrived without a postmark up to three days after the election was illegal, a state judge ruled.

Virginia Circuit Court Judge William Eldridge ruled the state’s late mail-in ballot law violated state statute and permanently banned the law in future Virginia elections, the Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) announced Monday. PILF sued the state’s board of elections in October on behalf of Thomas Reed, a Frederick County, Virginia election official.

“This is a big win for the Rule of Law,” PILF President and General Counsel J. Christian Adams said in a statement.
