On Fumes of Stimulus: California Starts Sending Out $900 Lump-Sum FEMA-Funded Unemployment Payments on Labor Day

by Wolf Richter
Wolf Street

Most states are also rolling it out. On top of other stimulus programs and housing payment deferrals via eviction bans & mortgage forbearance.

The stimulus party keeps rolling on. On September 7, Labor Day, the California Employment Development Department, which handles the state and federal unemployment claims for Californians, began sending out payments of $900 each to 3.1 million eligible unemployment insurance claimants. This lump-sum payment consists of three weekly $300-payments under the federal Lost Wages Assistance program, authorized by President Trump’s Executive Order, and drawing on FEMA’s Disaster Relief Fund.

California Becomes a Furnace as Wildfires Rage Out of Control

by Mike ‘Mish’ Shedlock
The Street

More than 35 wildfires blaze across California amidst a record heat wave that has intensified the crisis.

Out of Control

As wildfires blaze out of control the Extreme Heat has Turned California Into a Furnace.

With extreme heat roasting California on Monday, fire crews faced another difficult day battling a rash of new wildfires that have burned homes, cloaked cities and forced thousands of people to flee.

The fires, burning from near the Mexico border to the forests of the Sierra Nevada, spread a curtain of smoke over much of the state, as meteorologists warned residents from Los Angeles to the San Francisco Bay Area to expect another day of oppressive heat and dangerously foul air.

Roosevelt’s Fraud at Yalta and the Mirage of the “Good War”

by James Bovard
Mises.org

This year is the seventy-fifth anniversary of the end of World War II. One of the biggest frauds of the final stage of that war was the meeting at Yalta of Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin, British prime minister Winston Churchill, and President Franklin Roosevelt. Yalta has become a synonym for the abandonment of oppressed people and helped inspire the 1952 Republican campaign theme “20 years of treason.”

The American media uncorked a barrage of tributes to Roosevelt on the seventy-fifth anniversary of his death in April. CNN, for instance, trumpeted Roosevelt as “the wartime president who Trump should learn from.” But there was scant coverage of one of his greatest betrayals.

Roosevelt painted World War II as a crusade for democracy—hailing Stalin as a partner in liberation. From 1942 through 1945, the US government consistently deceived the American people about the character of the Soviet Union.

S&P 500 Adds Three Companies Not Named Tesla – ‘A Bit of a Shocker,’ Analyst Says

Tesla stock falls in after-hours trading after big run-up amid speculation that car company would get the nod after year of profit; S&P Dow Jones Indices adds Etsy, Catalent and Teradyne instead

by Jeremy C. Owens
Market Watch

Three new names will be added to the S&P 500 index this month, but none of them are Tesla Inc.

S&P Dow Jones Indices announced Friday afternoon that it will add three companies to the S&P 500 — Catalent Inc., Etsy Inc. and Teradyne Inc. Tesla Inc. was thought to be in line for the addition after announcing a fourth consecutive quarter of profitability, a requirement of the index, which many observers cited as a reason for a gigantic increase in the electric-car company’s stock in recent weeks.

“S&P 500 inclusion now likely a done deal,” Wedbush analyst Dan Ives said after Tesla reported a profitable quarter in July.

When reached Friday, Ives said, “The Champagne was on ice to get into the S&P 500, [it] was baked into shares.”

Lawyer: Kamala Harris Told Jacob Blake She’s ‘Proud’ of Him. Social Media Blasts Her.

by Hank Berrien
Daily Wire

On Monday, attorney Ben Crump, who is representing Jacob Blake, reported that Democratic vice-presidential candidate Kamala Harris told Blake that she was “proud of him and how he is working through his pain.”

[…] Blake was shot in a confrontation with police in late August. According to the Kenosha Professional Police Association (KPPA) the narrative that was built around the incident was inaccurate; they released a statement that asserted:

The officers were dispatched to the location due to a complaint that Mr. Blake was attempting to steal the caller’s keys/vehicle. Officers were aware of Mr. Blake’s open warrant for felony sexual assault(3rddegree) before they arrived on scene.Mr. Blake was not breaking up a fight between two females when officers arrived on scene.

‘What Do You Know?’: Trump Scolds Fox Reporter for Saying There Was ‘No Hope’ of Deal with Pelosi, Schumer

by Virginia Kruta
DailyCaller.com

President Donald Trump scolded Fox News reporter David Spunt for suggesting there was “no hope” of a deal with Democrats during Monday’s press conference.

“What do you know?” Trump asked in reply.

[…] Spunt began by asking why Trump hadn’t called Democratic leaders — namely House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer— and met with them at the White House in the hopes of moving forward on a deal to keep the economy moving.

“If they don’t want to meet, it is on them. A lot of people are criticizing you. I cover you on the weekends —” Spunt continued.

“I don’t think they are,” Trump interrupted.

Nolte: Ilhan Omar Calls Riots ‘Uprising Over Centuries of Racial Neglect and Oppression’

by John Nolte
Breitbart.com

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) released a video Sunday that described more than three months of riots as an “uprising over centuries of racial neglect and oppression.”

Yes, there’s so much racial oppression and neglect in America, a Muslim immigrant from Somalia can be elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in a state called Minnesota.

“As we speak, we are in the midst of an ongoing uprising over centuries of racial neglect and oppression,” she said while collecting a six-figure salary from a position of enormous power and influence granted to her by a Midwestern state.

“We can’t talk about the protests in Minneapolis or Kenosha … without first looking inward,” she continued.

Then she just started lying…

Democrats Have Planned a Coup if Trump Wins Reelection

by Dr. Paul Craig Roberts
PaulCraigRoberts.org

Under the pretext that President Trump will not step down if he loses reelection, Democrats and the military/security complex created the Transition Integrity Project. The plan they have worked out is to take the presidency regardless of the vote. Trump’s win is to be blamed on vote fraud, and Biden/Kamala are forbidden to concede their defeat. Instead, the presstitutes will conduct a propaganda campaign against Trump alleging election fraud in order to cast Trump’s reelection in doubt.

The propaganda campaign against Trump will be conducted by assertions and fake news just as was the Russiagate, Impeachgate, and other orchestrated false charges against Trump. The Democrats know that just like their other false allegations against Trump, the media will back them to the hilt and many dumbshit Americans will believe the lies. The presstitutes have done nothing for four years but try to discredit President Trump in the eyes of both Americans and the world.

Homeowner Catches Leftist Urinating on Trump Sign, Blasts Miscreant with Paintball Gun

Trespassing vandal gets sprayed down with pellets, runs screaming into the night

by National File
Info Wars

Video footage shows a Trump supporter using a paintball gun to dispel a leftist who was trying to urinate on the homeowner’s Trump-Pence lawn sign.

After catching the vandal leering over the lawn sign and fiddling with his pants on a night-vision CCTV camera, the Trump-supporting homeowner retrieves a semi-auto paintball gun and heads to the front door, with a pistol holstered on his hip for good measure.

“What the f**k?” he calls out to the trespasser. “F**k you!” comes the reply, as well as a derisive flash of the middle finger from the miscreant.

Unsatisfied with this response, the homeowner shoulders the CO2 rifle and proceeds to spray down the vandal with a fusillade of rubber paint pellets, prompting the latter to cry out in pain, lose his balance, and tumble into the street.

Some Things Never Change

from King World News

As we kickoff the trading week with stocks set to open lower, the US dollar rallying and gold still consolidating massive gains, some things never change.

HUMAN NATURE: Some Things Never Change

September 8 (King World News) – Peter Boockvar: If there is one thing that NEVER changes it’s human nature and when markets reach a euphoric stage, a change in trend is rarely far away. For purposes here I’ll use the 60 read in the Investors Intelligence survey and the 3x euphoric level in the Citi index of last week as a way of measuring that euphoria.

You can also add in the multi year low in the put/call ratios. But, the final phase of the recent blowoff really started in early June when Hertz stock, in bankruptcy, rallied to the point where the court almost allowed them to sell equity when the stock rallied from under $1 to $6 in a matter of days.

Ken McElroy: The Coming Real Estate Crash of 2021

Covid-19 is accelerating a bust cycle that was already in the cards

by Adam Taggart
Chris Martenson’s Peak Prosperity

The crazy stock market rally since the March lows has received all the media headlines, but what about real estate? What impact is the coronavirus having on that market?

One of the most successful real estate investors we know, Ken McElroy, says that covid-19 is accelerating and exacerbating a bust cycle that was already in the making. He predicts massive upheaval in 2021:

You didn’t have to prove hardship for the first part of that CARES Act. And then Trump said, “Listen, no evictions through October.” So, right now, we’re close to 3,000,000 people that have not paid their mortgages that are over 90 days delinquent.

Intolerance and Authoritarianism Accelerate Disunity and Collapse

by Charles Hugh Smith
Of Two Minds

Scapegoating dissenters only hastens the disunity and disarray that accelerates the final collapse.

Authoritarianism is imposed on us, but its sibling intolerance is our own doing. Intolerance and authoritarianism are two sides of the same coin: as intolerance becomes the norm, the intolerant start demanding that the state enforce their intolerance by suppressing their enemies via increasingly heavy-handed authoritarian measures.

Intolerance and authoritarianism increase as instability takes hold and living standards decline. In good times, dissent and differences of opinion are not only tolerated but celebrated, as this freedom to hold a variety of beliefs serves to unify society.

In bad times, dissent and differences are viewed as mortal threats to the social order. Perhaps there is a human instinct when times become troubled to insist “we must all row together,” i.e. to seek a unity enforced by a rising intolerance that demands more authoritarian action by the state.

School Calls Cops on 12-Year-Old Boy Who Held Toy Gun During Zoom Class

Isaiah Elliott also received a five-day suspension, but plans to transfer.

by RobSoave
Reason.com

Isaiah Elliott, a 12-year-old boy who lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is fond of his neon green Nerf gun—which has the words “ZOMBIE HUNTER” written on it.

Last week, during a virtual classroom session, Elliott briefly picked up his toy gun, causing it to appear on screen for just a few seconds. This was noticed by his teacher, who promptly alerted the authorities. As a result, the police paid a visit to Elliott’s home and the school suspended him for five days.

The teacher was fairly certain the gun was a toy, according to local news station KDVR. But instead of checking with the parents to assuage any doubts, the school went straight to the cops.

In a statement, the district explained that all school board policies would be enforced regardless of whether “we are in-person learning or distance learning.”

Battleground States Could See a Record-Breaking Number of Absentee Ballot Rejections

by Damjan Tutarkov
LaCorte News

While thousands of absentee ballots are rejected each presidential election, the issue could prove “much worse” this year, particularly in battleground states, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, according to a new analysis by the Associated Press.

The analysis: “With the coronavirus creating a surge in mail-in balloting and postal delays reported across the country, the number of rejected ballots in November is projected to be significantly higher than previous elections,” the AP report reads.

The issue is expected to become more pronounced this election as tens of millions of absentee ballots are anticipated to be cast due to the complications arising from the coronavirus pandemic that is making in-person voting more difficult.

It is a problem already becoming apparent in Michigan, considered a swing state, where a record 2.5 million ballots were submitted in the August primary, around 10,000 of which were rejected

Sometimes, Kamala Harris is One Seriously Dumb Bunny

by Andrea Widburg
American Thinker

People with ties to San Francisco have long known that Kamala Harris is ambitious but not too bright. Her success over the years came about because she latched onto then-mayor Willie Brown, even though Kamala was 30 years younger than the still married Brown. Love him or hate him, Brown is one of the smartest people in politics, and, even after the two ended their relationship, he regularly advised Kamala as she climbed up the California political ladder.

It’s tough to believe that Kamala spoke to Brown before she jumped with both feet into the Jacob Blake matter. If they had spoken, I’m reasonably sure that Brown would have told her that a person with her political prominence should never give an opinion about a famous or, worse, politically charged criminal trial. Doing so provides an opening for defense counsel to claim that it is impossible to find neutral jurors, forcing a mistrial or even dismissal. That’s good for the police (whom I support) but is not the outcome Harris wants.

“No Recovery in Sight”: Container Volumes at the Port of Los Angeles Flatline

from Zero Hedge

Submitted by Christopher Dembik, head of macro analysis at Saxo Bank

In today’s edition, we focus once again on global trade and the U.S. economy in these unusual circumstances.

One of our favorite coincident trade indicators is the evolution of container volumes at the Port of Los Angeles. As it is the number one port in the U.S. in terms of container volume and value and the busiest entryway for ocean trade with China, any major change in data could be of great significance for the global and U.S. outlooks.

The least we can say is that the economic panorama has hardly improved in recent months if we rely on shipping data.
