Trump: ‘Surprise Ballot Dumps’ Behind Lead Changes; Arizona ‘Sharpie’ Malarkey Comes Into Focus

from Zero Hedge

President Trump took to Twitter on Wednesday claiming that ‘surprise ballot dumps’ are to blame for his lead ‘magically disappearing’ overnight.

[…] “Last night I was leading, often solidly, in many key States, in almost all instances Democrat run & controlled,” wrote Trump, adding: “Then, one by one, they started to magically disappear as surprise ballot dumps were counted.”

[…] Trump’s comments come after several key states mysteriously stopped counting ballots on election night for the first time in perhaps ever, after which large batches of votes – seemingly all, or mostly all for Biden – tipped the race towards the former Vice President in Michigan and Wisconsin.

The Delayed Reporting of Pennsylvania’s Vote Was Strategically Orchestrated by Trump Republicans

by Pam Martens and Russ Martens
Wall Street on Parade

Presidential candidate Joe Biden has called for Americans to have patience as states continue counting their legitimately filed ballots. Donald Trump, instead, attacked the legitimate counting of these votes in numerous states and declared himself the winner around 2:30 a.m. this morning from the East Room of the White House. Trump said he wanted all vote counting to stop and would be taking his case to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Trump’s fit of pique over the continued counting of mailed-in ballots in Pennsylvania is like the defendant who has killed his parents and is now demanding that the Judge show him mercy because he’s an orphan.

It was the Republican State Legislature in Pennsylvania that earlier this year refused the request by counties to be allowed, because of the pandemic, to begin counting the mailed-in ballots prior to election day. As of this morning, more than 1.4 million, timely received, mailed-in ballots remain to be counted in Pennsylvania.

For Stocks, Any Election Outcome is Now the Best Outcome, Disputed Election, Long Legal Mess, Split Government Without Stimulus, Whatever…

by Wolf Richter
Wolf Street

This is funny in terms of stock-market “narratives” during these crazy times.

At first, long ago, the narrative was that a Trump victory would boost stocks. And then when this became more uncertain, the narrative was that a Biden victory would also boost stocks, and that a “Blue Wave” would boost stocks hugely because it would trigger the mother of all stimulus packages, which would spread trillions of dollars directly and indirectly to these companies, which would be good for stocks.

And so it was that a victory by either presidential candidate would boost stocks, and that only a disputed election outcome with a long drawn-out legal battle or a split government would derail stocks.

Election Rage: Four Trump Supporters Stabbed After Fight Near White House

by Mac Slavo
SHTF Plan

The election anger has begun. In a fight outside of the White House after the elections, four “Trump supporters” ended up stabbed. Or is this just a false flag to rile up the already divided populace and cause more chaos? You decide.

Three men and a woman, who identified themselves as supporters of Donald Trump, have been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening knife injuries, according to a report by RT. We were promised violence in the past several months leading up to the vote. It looks like it’s started.

It isn’t clear if the fight that resulted in the stabbing occurred in connection with a protest rally staged in front of the presidential residence on the election night. The scuffle happened near the intersection of 14th Street and New York Avenue Northwest around 2:30 a.m. EST, police reported. Law enforcement is now looking for three suspects over the incident.

What We Don’t Elect Matters Most: Central Banking and the Permanent Government

by Charles Hugh Smith
Of Two Minds

We’re Number One in wealth, income and power inequality, yea for the Fed and the Empire!

If we avert our eyes from the electoral battle on the blood-soaked sand of the Coliseum and look behind the screen, we find the powers that matter are not elected: our owned by a few big banks Federal Reserve, run by a handful of technocrats, and the immense National Security State, a.k.a. the Permanent Government. These entities operate the Empire which hosts the electoral games for the entertainment and distraction of the public.

The governance machinery controlled by elected representatives is tightly constrained in what it can and cannot do. It can’t do anything to stop the debasement of the nation’s currency, which is totally controlled by the Politburo of the Fed, nor can it do much to limit the Imperial Project, other than feel-good PR bits here and there.

The president wields vast powers but even the president is powerless to stop the debasement of the nation’s currency and the enrichment of bankers, financiers, corporations, etc., who fund the campaigns of the gladiators, oops I mean politicians.

Why Asset Bubbles Involve So Much More Than Just Rising Prices

by Frank Shostak
Mises.org

According to the Financial Times from October 18, 2020, senior Federal Reserve officials are calling for tougher financial regulation to prevent the US central bank’s low interest rate policies from giving rise to excessive risk taking and asset bubbles in the markets.

Eric Rosengren, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, told the Financial Times that the Fed lacked sufficient tools to “stop firms and households” from taking on “excessive leverage” and called for a “rethink” on “financial stability” issues in the US.

If you want to follow a monetary policy…that applies low interest rates for a long time, you want robust financial supervisory authority in order to be able to restrict the amount of excessive risk taking occurring at the same time,” he said. Otherwise “you’re much more likely to get into a situation where the interest rates can be low for long but be counterproductive.

According to the Financial Times, one of the fears among some Fed officials is that the US central bank could be forced to raise interest rates earlier than it would like if financial sector risks are not kept under control and dangerous asset bubbles emerge.

Democrats’ Crumbling Hopes of a Blue Wave Make Divided Government More Likely

A GOP Senate could act as a powerful check on a Biden administration.

by Billy Binion
Reason.com

As the final votes continue to be tallied in elections across the country, Democrats are likely to keep their House majority, though hopes of surpassing the GOP in the Senate dimmed on election night as several key Democrat-leaning toss-up races were either called for or led by incumbent Republicans. Such results could set the scene for a divided government, with the Senate acting as a powerful check on a Joe Biden administration should he win the presidency.

In one swing race, Sen. Joni Ernst (R–Iowa) handily bested her Democratic challenger, Theresa Greenfield, earning 52 percent of the vote to Greenfield’s 45 percent. Ernst had been down consistently in the polls, though she came out on top in a final survey before election night. In the presidential race, the state went for Donald Trump.

The Nasty Street Fight Ahead for 2020: This is Why We Elected Trump

by C. Edmund Wright
American Thinker

Ironic, isn’t it? This could be Trump’s finest hour.

As befits the already awful year of Our Lord, 2020, the presidential election is going to come down to a nasty street fight of lawyers, public relations spin, and positioning involving four states. Donald Trump has won all four, and now he must successfully defend all four wins from the very mail-in shenanigans he (and all of us) predicted would happen months ago. This is flesh and blood people versus theoretical pieces of mail. The people must win this.

Like many, as I was transitioning from supporting Ted Cruz in the summer of 2016 to making peace with supporting Donald Trump, the main comfort I had was that Trump was a fighter, one who seemed fearless, and one who talked like a real guy instead of a political drone. Then there is the “it” factor that Trump has, a once in a lifetime gift upon the political scene. The brilliant Cruz was admittedly a bit weak on all of that. Okay, more than a bit.

The Fun Night That Wasn’t Fun

by Jeffrey A. Tucker
The American Institute for Economic Research

In the old days, which seem behind us, people were invited to marvel at the workings of the American system. For all the problems with the vote in a constitutional republic, at least it assures the peaceful transition of power. That was the core argument that old liberals made for democracy. It kept violence at bay. Instead of killing each other for power and control, we went to the ballot box, and acquiesced even when the vote didn’t go the way we wanted. No more violent revolutions! Bring the peaceful cooperation of market action to politics itself!

That result somehow seems impossible this year, a year when the stakes are higher than ever because governments have never controlled so much of our lives. We found out some things we did not know. We discovered that government can stop our travel plans.

Timeout…

by Karl Denninger
Market-Ticker.org

As I write this it is well before the polls close; it is set to post Wednesday morning.

I thus am not writing from a position of knowledge, nor does it matter. I am neither saying “that didn’t age well” (my previous Ticker) nor am I taking a victory lap, because time of posting is not time of writing, necessarily.

Nope, I decided before the election that the week following it was going to be a time of being mostly quiet on this blog. As I said I expect we will know the outcome by 11:00 or so Tuesday night, but I could be wrong about that, and I have no expectation that when you see this the war is still on and nobody has conceded anything — despite the obvious result.

One thing I said before and will repeat: We must change the election system in this nation so you vote on exactly one day, Election Day, you dip your finger in indelible ink as they do in other nations to prevent voting more than once and this way anyone can be an election monitor with a little clicky-box as is used to count people that come into or out of a place and count dipped fingers then square that against the number of ballots in a precinct. That stops all allegations of either ballot stuffing or shredding immediately.

On Election Night, the Real Winner Was Drugs

Plus: Presidential results still unclear (but Trump declares victory in a few states anyway), California approves Proposition 22, and more…

by Elizabeth Nolan Brown
Reason.com

Drugs are winning the war on drugs. It’s the morning after the 2020 election, and the result everyone is waiting for—will Donald Trump best Joe Biden, or vice versa?—is still a mystery wrapped in a clusterfuck. But there was one absolutely certain loser last night: the war on drugs. If Americans across the country provided a clear mandate for anything this year, it’s ending the hold that drug prohibition has on our country.

Of nine drug decriminalization or legalization measures on state ballots last night—including two addressing hallucinogens and one covering all illegal drugs—not a single one failed. These were decisive victories, too, not close calls. And unlike some previous waves of pro-marijuana votes, which were concentrated in predictable areas, successful anti–drug war measures in 2020 spanned a diverse array of states.

Suddenly, All the Democrat-Run Swing States Need to Stop Counting Ballots for Awhile

by Monica Showalter
American Thinker

Is the U.S. on track to see its first election utterly stolen in front of its eyes? The way Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez used to do it in the face of huge, huge enthusiastic crowds protesting against him back in Caracas?

How else to explain strange doings like these?

Nevada says no more results to announce until Thursday morning https://t.co/troZOt23Eh

— CBS News (@CBSNews) November 4, 2020

Michigan, too, needs some extra time to count the ballots. And so does North Carolina. And so do all of the states where Trump was running ahead — Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan… The counting suddenly shut down. Arizona went down a suspicious 90 minutes before the announcement that the state had flipped to Biden.

Mark Steyn has some brutal observations here, emphasis mine.

Trump on Election Results: ‘We Will Be Going to the U.S. Supreme Court’

by Daily Wire News
Daily Wire

President Donald Trump responded to the presidential election results during the early morning hours on Wednesday, which showed a very tight race between Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, by suggesting that the election could be decided by the Supreme Court.

After talking for several minutes about victories that the campaign had secured and races where the campaign believed that things were still looking good, Trump called out how vote counting had seemingly stopped in critical races that had not been called yet.
