The U.S. Money Supply Was up 37 Percent in November

by Ryan McMaken
Mises.org

In November, money supply growth rate was essentially unchanged from October and remains near September’s all-time high. The stabilization we find in money-supply growth in recent months comes after eight months of record-breaking growth in the US which came in the wake of unprecedented quantitative easing, central bank asset purchases, and various stimulus packages.

Historically, the growth rate has never been higher than what we’ve seen this year, with the 1970s being the only period that comes close. It was expected that money supply growth would surge in recent months. This usually happens in the wake of the early months of a recession or financial crisis. But it appears that now the United States is several months into an extended economic crisis, with around 1 million new jobless claims each week from March until mid-September. More than 5 million unemployed workers are currently collecting standard unemployment benefits, with 8 million more collecting “Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation” as of late November.

Tom Woods: The Virus is Your Fault

from Dollar Collapse

From the Tom Woods Show:

Mayors and governors have been ordering soul-crushing shutdowns yet again.

When I try to explain that these measures don’t seem to accomplish anything, since places that don’t do them get similar results, I get reader feedback saying: don’t bother making this argument. The political class has a secret agenda it’s pushing, and it’s not about a virus.

Well, the political class always has an ulterior motive for what it does, but that doesn’t mean there’s no value in explaining to ordinary people that what they’re doing hurts rather than helps.

New D.C. Law Says Restaurants Must Rehire Staff They Were Forced to Lay Off

The new law layers more bureaucratic requirements on a hospitality industry trying to bounce back from its worst year on record.

by Christian Britschgi
Reason.com

In the space of two days, local lawmakers in Washington, D.C., have made it harder for the city’s restaurants to both retain staff they currently employ and hire new workers once the pandemic is over.

On Monday, the District slashed restaurants’ allowable indoor capacity to 25 percent, down from 50 percent.

This reduction wasn’t a surprise for restaurants, given that D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser had announced the coming restrictions some three weeks ago. It’s nevertheless a blow for business owners who’ve been devastated by the pandemic, lockdown orders, civil unrest, rioting, and everything else 2020 has thrown at them.

Should a restaurant manage to survive the winter and the District’s limits on indoor dining capacity, they’ll find their ability to scale up their operations come springtime more difficult thanks to a bill passed by the D.C. City Council on Tuesday.

Republicans, Learn How to Fight Dirty or Keep Being Losers

by Autry Pruitt
American Thinker

As long as Republicans allow unreciprocated decency to stand in the way of victory, they will be losers forever. And, right now, the leader of the losers is Attorney General William Barr.

In the weeks before Election Day, Barr reportedly instructed prosecutors and senior colleagues to prevent the Department of Justice’s (DoJ) investigation into Hunter Biden’s brand of corruption and crony capitalism from leaking to the public. His goal was to “keep the Justice Department out of campaign politics,” although Biden’s transgressions are directly relevant to a presidential election featuring his father. Ultimately, Barr sat silent as the left-leaning mainstream media disregarded the Hunter story and labeled Trump supporters as kooks, while social media’s “woke” elites censored it.

Even as President-elect Joe Biden lied to defend his son, Barr refused to speak up. His silence signaled that Biden was olly olly oxen free.

Democrats: Let’s Play Hardball

by Leslie C. Francis
Real Clear Politics

As I sat down to write this, members of the Electoral College were meeting in the 50 states and the District of Columbia and casting what should be the final and deciding votes in the 2020 presidential election. Should be, but may not be.

Based on past performance and utterances, President Donald J. Trump is unlikely to go quietly into the night. His assault on our representative democracy, the likes of which have not been seen in America since the 1860s, is likely to continue. Among Trump’s supporters are groups such as the Proud Boys, who have already incited and participated in violence and promise more to come.

Betsy DeVos Pleads with Education Department Employees to ‘Resist’ the Biden Administration

‘Be the resistance,’ she says — angering educators on Twitter

by Nicole Lyn Pesce
Market Watch

So much for a peaceful transition …

During a virtual Education Department meeting on Tuesday, President Trump’s education secretary, Betsy DeVos, told career employees to “be the resistance” when the Biden administration takes over next month.

Politico got hold of a recording of her remarks. Acknowledging that many Education Department employees will remain through the transition, DeVos said:

‘Let me leave you with this plea: Resist. Be the resistance against forces that will derail you from doing what’s right for students. In everything you do, please put students first — always.’ — Betsy DeVos

Why food shortages may define the future

by Adam Taggart
Chris Martenson’s Peak Prosperity

Several factors are conspiring to weaken the reliability of our food production systems, warns Christian Westbrook, publisher of the website IceAgeFarmer.com

We’re seeing a shortening of the growing season for important crops due to weather trends and changes in the solar cycle.

Our food production system, which is highly dependent on chemical inputs and fossil fuels, is becoming increasingly brittle.

And we have more vulnerability due to the global nature of modern food supply chains. Crop shortages/failures in one part of the world impact all markets now.

Where Americans Splurged & Where They Cut Back in 13 Whiplash-Charts

by Wolf Richter
Wolf Street

Stimulus Fatigue sets in. Second month of declining retail sales in a row. But online sales eked out a new record, if barely.

Retail sales in November fell 1.1% from October, the second month in a row of declines, and they even fell with restaurants and bars removed from the total. Sales at nonstore retailers, the placeholder for ecommerce, eked out a new record. This is the second month now of what I called a month ago Stimulus Fatigue.

But wait… the Pandemic-induced switch from services – such as airline tickets, concert tickets, hotel bookings, and haircuts – to goods – such as food & beer at home, bicycles, and consumer electronics – is still on. In November, retail sales of $547 billion (seasonally adjusted) were still up 4.1% from November last year, according to the Census Bureau this morning. And for the 11-month period, they were essentially flat ($5.70 trillion), despite the collapse in March and April:

Taking Christmas Seriously

by Andrew P. Napolitano
LewRockwell.com

God works in strange ways. Last weekend, two friends and I were deeply moved when we saw a theatrical production of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.” This is the famous and popular tale of the transformation and redemption of Ebenezer Scrooge from a rasping, grasping old miser into a lovable, generous old man who, late in life, becomes determined to make amends for all his extreme selfishness and his public denunciations of charity.

After a tossing-and-turning Christmas Eve night, during which he has dreams showing him lonely in his youth, showing present suffering he could easily alleviate, and showing future rejoicing at his death, he awakes on Christmas morning a new man. He immediately parts with some of his wealth to the very people and institutions he formerly rejected, makes amends with relatives he had ignored, and his heart swells with joy — a joy he had never known.

It was a joy his riches had never brought him.

Fauci Cancels Christmas: ‘Just One of the Things You’re Going to Have to Accept’

by Jon Brown
Daily Wire

Dr. Anthony Fauci said he and his wife will not be spending Christmas with family this year and advised other American families to follow his example.

“I’m going to be with my wife — period,” Fauci told The Washington Post on Monday regarding his holiday plans. “The Christmas holiday is a special holiday for us because Christmas Eve is my birthday. And Christmas Day is Christmas Day. And [my daughters] are not going to come home … That’s painful. We don’t like that. But that’s just one of the things you’re going to have to accept as we go through this unprecedented challenging time.”

“We have a big problem,” Fauci continued. “Look at the numbers — the numbers are really quite dramatic.”

Hunter Biden Was Due to Receive ‘Significant’ Payments from Chinese Private Equity Firm Starting in 2019, Emails Show

Hunter Biden was repeatedly told by his business partner in emails that he was set to receive payments from the Chinese private equity firm BHR Partners starting in 2019 and for years to come.

by Andrew Kerr
DailyCaller.com

Hunter Biden was repeatedly told by his business partner that he would begin receiving significant payments from a Chinese private equity firm starting in 2019, emails obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation show.

The business partner, Eric Schwerin, also told Hunter Biden in a December 2018 email that the Chinese private equity firm, BHR Partners, would generate income for him “over the next couple of years.”

The revelations conflict with an October 2019 statement issued from Hunter Biden’s lawyer, George Mesires, that said Biden had not received any return on his investment in BHR, nor had there been any distributions to the firm’s shareholders since he obtained his 10% equity stake two years prior through his company, Skaneateles LLC.

Corporations Can Be Listed as ‘Chair’ of Biden’s Inauguration for $1 Million

by Hannah Bleau
Breitbart.com

President-elect Joe Biden’s inaugural committee is offering VIP donor packages ahead of Inauguration Day, allowing corporations to be listed as a “chair” of his inauguration for a $1 million donation.

A document detailing the packages reveals the cushy benefits for big donors, with Biden’s committee extending the opportunity to corporations.

For $1 million, a corporation will receive an invitation to a virtual event with Biden and first lady-elect Jill Biden, as well as Vice President-elect Kamala Harris and second gentleman-elect Doug Emhoff. Both events include photos. Donors are also entitled to “virtual signed photos,” “preferred viewing” for the virtual inauguration, “event sponsorship opportunities,” “VIP participation” in a virtual concert during the week of the inauguration, “virtual briefings with PIC Co-Chairs, senior PIC leadership, and former campaign leadership,” four VIP tickets to a “future in-person event,” and VIP merchandise.

The Decimal Point That Blew up the World

by Jeffrey A. Tucker
The American Institute for Economic Research

What was the basis of panic that led the lights to darken on civilization? The most important date here might be March 11, 2020. That’s when Congress itself flew into an unwarranted panic, and acquiesced to a lockdown at the urging of the “experts.” State governors followed one by one, with few exceptions, and the rest of the world joined the lockdown frenzy.

In February, people were aching to know the answer to the following. Would this “novel virus” have familiar patterns we associate with the flu, seasonal colds, and other predictable and manageable pathogens? Or would this be something entirely different, unprecedented in our lifetimes, terrifying, and universally deadly?

Goldman Signals Gold Rally Ahead

by David Brady
Sprott Money

Exchange Traded Funds, or “ETFs”, in all asset classes have soared in popularity over the years due to their liquidity, convenience, and low cost. They’re simple to trade, and they provide a quick and easy way to create a portfolio compared with having to buy each of the individual underlying assets. With respect to Gold and Silver, GLD and SLV provide an easy and cost-effective way to gain exposure to precious metals. And there’s no need to store anything, which means no vault fees and no risk of theft from your home.

As we say in Ireland, you never get something for nothing, and so it is with ETFs for precious metals. Gold and Silver ETFs, another form of so-called paper gold, are rarely 100% backed by the physical metal. GLD, for example—the biggest, most popular gold ETF—is an investment fund that holds physical gold to back its shares. In other words, it’s a stock, not the actual physical metal.

Arizona Senate Orders Audit of Dominion Voting Machines in Arizona

by Mac Slavo
SHTF Plan

The Arizona Senate has ordered an audit of the Dominion voting machines that were “designed for fraud.” The election battle is not over yet.

The board of supervisors must respond to the audit orders by December 18. A spokesperson for the Maricopa Board of Directors told the Washington Examiner that the board is consulting with legal advisers about the subpoenas. Maricopa County officials said they were already planning to carry out a forensic audit of voting machines, as well as a hand recount of all 2.1 million ballots cast, but were prevented from doing so due to ongoing litigation involving challenges to the election results.

The subpoenas coincide with the release of a preliminary audit report, ordered by a Michigan judge, which claimed that Dominion systems are “intentionally and purposefully designed with inherent errors to create systemic fraud and influence election results.”

Western Public Health Officials Are Intentionally Withholding Life-Saving Safe Treatments for Covid

by Dr. Paul Craig Roberts
PaulCraigRoberts.org

I have pointed out to you in a number of postings to this website that known cures for Covid are being suppressed. HCQ, for example, is being intentionally kept from people who as a result needlessly die from Covid. In other words, it is the intent of public health authorities for Covid to be deadly. It will be difficult for you to accept that public health officials are sentencing people to death in order to fatten their own pockbooks. But that is a fact.

In the article below, we have yet another expert’s affirmation of the efficacy of HCQ and a damning indictment ot those public health officials who withhold it and use the presstitutes to demonize it. Dr. Harvey Risch is Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health at Yale University. He is an expert, and he reports known empirical evidence proving the effectiveness and safety of HCQ.
