Critics Claim Bitcoin Is a Threat to the Environment. They’re Wrong.

by Peter St. Onge
Mises.org

One popular critique of bitcoin is energy cost per transaction. This doesn’t begin to capture bitcoin’s massive energy savings compared to fiat currency.

Bitcoin’s cost per transaction is well known, and often critiqued; one article in Wired magazine called bitcoin “[a] big middle finger to earth’s climate.” This is because bitcoin’s security, redundancy, and architecture are more energy intensive than traditional payments relying on a single point of failure.

Comparing the energy of a single transaction barely scrapes the surface of the dollar’s carbon footprint, which includes the entire financial infrastructure supporting fiat—8.4 percent of GDP in the US alone, slightly behind manufacturing. This includes 80,000 bank branches, 470,000 ATMs in the US alone, and forests of skyscrapers towering over most cities on earth.

A Less-Than-Thrilling COT Report

by Ed Steer
Silver Seek

The gold price was stair-stepped lower in price starting at 10 a.m. China Standard Time on their Friday morning — and the Big 4/8 traders set the low tick at 9:15 a.m. in New York. Its subsequent rally was capped and turned sideways to a bit lower around 10:45 a.m. — and it didn’t do much after that.

The high and low ticks in gold yesterday were recorded as $1,758.20 and $1,730.80 in the June contract. The June/August price spread differential in silver at the close yesterday was $2.00…August/October was $1.90 — and October/December was $2.00…all signs of a very, very tight wholesale market.

Gold was closed on Friday afternoon in New York at $1,744.20 spot, down $11.60 from Thursday.

Fauci: ‘It’s Still Not OK’ to Eat or Drink Indoors Even if You’re Vaccinated

by Trent Baker
Breitbart.com

White House chief medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci on Sunday advised people who have been vaccinated for COVID-19 to hold off on congregating indoors to eat or drink.

Mehdi Hasan, host of MSNBC’s “The Mehdi Hasan Show,” asked Fauci, “What is the message to vaccinated and unvaccinated Americans as to what they should and should not be doing right now? For example, eating and drinking indoors in restaurants and bars — is that OK now?”

According to Fauci, “it’s still not OK” to gather indoors. He cited the “level of infection” as “still really disturbingly high.”

“No, it’s still not OK for the simple reason that the level of infection, the dynamics of infection in the community are still really disturbingly high,” Fauci advised. “Like just yesterday, there were close to 80,000 new infections, and we’ve been hanging around 60,000, 70,000, 75,000.”

Fauci pled with the public to get vaccinated and continue wearing masks.

Back to the 1970s

by Dan Amoss
Daily Reckoning

After a multi-month correction in gold, fear and frustration are apparent among gold investors. But today, I’d like to present a case for sticking with gold. Here it is in a nutshell:

As long as politicians spend wildly and the Fed keeps monetary policy loose, the case for gold will remain compelling. And both are likely to continue for a long time.

It also has to do with supply. The amount of gold supply available on the market at any given time represents a tiny fraction of the potential demand for that gold.

If investment demand for gold surges, prices can spike rapidly before additional supply can hit the market.

Unlike dollars, you can’t create gold at the stroke of a computer key.

Russia Has Moved Missiles That Can Carry Nuclear Warheads Into the Conflict Zone with Ukraine

by Michael Snyder
The Economic Collapse Blog

How close can Russia and Ukraine come to war without actually going over the precipice? Over the weekend, more forces on both sides continued to pour into the conflict zone. And on the line of separation in eastern Ukraine, there are regular reports of gunfire and shelling. At this point, there are no negotiations on the horizon, and one false move could easily spark an all-out war. In fact, a Kremlin spokesperson is warning that we could soon see “full-scale combat operations”…

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov on Thursday said the situation in eastern Ukraine was ‘very unstable’ and warned it risked leading to ‘full-scale combat operations.’

As Kiev warned it could be ‘provoked’ by Russia’s aggression, several Western nations have voiced fears that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s move could trigger an all-out war, which could drag Nato allies, including Britain, into the conflict.

By rushing so many forces to the conflict zone, the Russians have prepared themselves to be ready for any scenario that may unfold.

Rioters Smash Police Cars, Vandalize Police Station in Minneapolis While Looters Storm Businesses Following Police Shooting

by Ryan Saavedra
Daily Wire

Hundreds of apparent Black Lives Matter rioters smashed police cars, vandalized a police station, and looted businesses in Minneapolis after law enforcement shot and killed a man during a traffic stop after the man, who had an outstanding warrant, allegedly ran from police after they pulled him over.

Rocks and other objects were thrown at law enforcement officials in response to the shooting death of Daunte Wright, 20, while nearly two dozen businesses were broken into. A police officer was also transported to a hospital with injuries.

“Officers repeatedly ordered the crowd of about 500 to disperse as protesters chanted Wright’s name and climbed atop the police headquarters sign, by then covered in graffiti. Police used tear gas, flash bangs and rubber bullets on the crowd,” The Star Tribune reported.

‘Dare Them to Come at Me’: California Teacher Trashes Parents Who Want In-Person Classes

by Michael Ginsberg
DailyCaller.com

A video posted to Facebook shows a California high school teacher disparaging parents who are in favor of in-person learning, Fox News reported Sunday.

“If your parent wants to come talk to me about how I’m not doing a good enough job in distance learning based on what you need as an individual, just dare them to come at me,” the teacher said to her class on Zoom. The teacher’s Zoom name reveals her to be Alissa Piro of San Marcos High School, according to Fox News.

[…] “I am so sick to my stomach of parents trying to tell educators how to do their job. I have never once gone to a doctor’s appointment and told my medical health provider how to treat me. You know why? Because I know nothing about that. I didn’t get my degree in medicine,” Piro continued.

She then said that her rant is part of her “go off period.”

A Closer Look at Biden’s Court Reform Commission

by Ethan Yang
The American Institute for Economic Research

According to major news outlets President Joe Biden recently announced the formation of a bipartisan commission to study the prospect of reforming the Supreme Court. NBC includes a statement from the current administration by writing,

“The commission’s purpose is to provide an analysis of the principal arguments in the contemporary public debate for and against Supreme Court reform,” the White House said.”

The 36-name list of scholars can be found here and it is refreshingly bipartisan and qualified. It includes some of the most accomplished legal scholars and professionals this country has to offer from across the spectrum.

The elephant in the room of course is whether or not this commission is a gateway to expanding the Supreme Court, which was a hotly discussed topic during the last Democratic primary elections.

Minnesota Descends Into Violence After Police Shoot Unarmed Man

by Mac Slavo
SHTF Plan

Tensions have been running high in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, after police shot an unarmed man during a traffic stop, reportedly over an air freshener. The incident has sparked protests that descended into violence.

Police shootings are completely out of hand in “the land of the free,” but burning, looting, and destruction of the property of those who had nothing to do with this murder are also out of hand. Remember:

You Can Be Against Police Brutality & Looting and Rioting At The Same Time

Chile: Elderly Woman Denied Entry to Supermarket After Failing to Obtain Government Permission to Buy Food

Lockdown rules mandate ‘safe conduct pass’ to shop.

by Paul Joseph Watson
Info Wars

A video out of Chile shows an elderly woman being refused entry to a supermarket because she didn’t obtain the necessary government permission to buy groceries under the country’s lockdown rules.

The clip shows the woman, who is apparently 100-years-old, appearing to be confused as she is denied access by security guards in uniform.

“Unfortunately government measures are not intended for the most vulnerable, not everyone handles the technology, not everyone has access to the internet,” tweeted Radio Villa Francia along with the video.

[…] In Chile, people have to apply for a “safe conduct pass” online, which only allows them to buy essential food items twice a week between the hours of 5am and 9pm.

End Sinsorship with Gerald Celente

from Kerry Lutz's Financial Survival Network

Gerald Celente is holding a freedom rally in Kingston on Memorial Day. Join him there. It’s time for people to stand up for what they believe in. Beware of vaxx passports. What about declining sperm counts? Gerald says, “Big Pharma is nothing more than a bunch of drug pushers.” He is a man born of freedom and was not put on this planet to take orders from garbage peddlers to serve their whims. He believes that markets will keep going higher in a Biden Bounce. Once interest rates go up, the whole thing implodes. Housing bust coming? Fake inflation numbers. Housing price increases don’t go into CPI. They deliberately hide the true inflation rate so they can have unlimited free money and put a lid on Social Security benefit increases. No real estate crash is coming because individuals are buying up houses to get out of the big cities. Millennials are now buying too. There’s never been anything like this before. The NYC Office vacancy rate is over 14%, a record high. They’re subleasing to get out. Big law firms no longer need all that space. Now they’re working from their homes. Commercial RE in all major cities is coming down big time. Ground level retail is empty. New York City is not coming back from this along with the other big cities. People are fleeing the big cities. Lots of empty ugly space. Newcomers to Kingston, Gerald’s hometown are fleeing NYC crime and the Coronavirus.

Gold to Take Off After Rate Hikes Start with Jordan Roy-Byrne

from Kerry Lutz's Financial Survival Network

Jordan Roy-Byrne says that there’s no crash immediately ahead. The economy is like a giant aircraft carrier, it takes a lot of time turn around. Too much growth and too much money coming in. Twelve percent chance of a rate hike in December, despite their repeated denials to the contrary. Gold is heading upward with a resistance point of $1825. Miners are now leading the metals, which is what you want to see, especially at turning points. Dow Jones US Gold Mining Index has been leading for quite a while, a very positive sign. They led on the way down and are leading on the way up. And rate hikes are going to be the next catalyst. Tons of money being thrown at the economy. Pent-up demand is going to make the economic numbers soar. Optimism yes, but it might not yet quite be time. Better to be a little early. When gold hits $1950 it’s off to the races. This is going to launch and explode high. Gold to S&P at a 7 year low.

Mission Accomplished: The Corbett Report Removed from YouTube

by James Corbett
Corbett Report

I posted Episode 398 of The Corbett Report podcast, “Science Says,” around 10 PM Japanese Standard Time on Friday, April 9th, 2021, and then went to bed. Sometime shortly after midnight, the main Corbett Report channel was removed from YouTube.

And, just like that, 14 years of work—some 1700+ videos, 569,000+ subscribers and 90 million+ video views—was erased from the digital ether. . . . Well, the GooTube portion of that digital ether, anyway.

Given that I’ve been promoting YouTube alternatives since at least 2009, and given that I have made video after video after video after video after video warning my audience that I would be banned from GooTube, and given that I even delivered a presentation last year noting that The Library of Alexandria is on Fire, it’s safe to say that this news did not catch me off guard. Learning about the banning after waking up on Saturday morning, my only thought was, “Well, that took longer than I expected.”

So About Herr Goebbels

by Karl Denninger
Market-Ticker.org

You do know who he was, right?

Minister of propaganda, Nazi Germany 1933 – 1945 and one of Hitler’s most-trusted associates.

Today we don’t need a “minster”, we just need and have media organs that declare facts to be out-of-bounds. For example, put together a Youtube video using only the facts published on epidemic curves in different states and counties which conclusively show that mask mandates do nothing and it will be removed. It does not matter who produced it. It does not matter if it’s a governor’s panel that is in question — it will be removed.

Give sworn testimony before the US Senate that there is evidence that a drug works for a specific disease and it will be removed. On the other hand give perjured, that is, proved false statements before Congress that masks are better than a vaccine and it will be retained and even promoted.
