Teachers Union President Busted Flying to in Person Meetings While School Kids Zoom

The head of the country’s second-largest teachers’ union took some heat on social media for flying to in-person meetings as many students are still homebound and learning remotely.

Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) – the country’s second-largest teachers’ union, tweeted Monday that she was on her way “from Portland to Bend, OR to see our newest health care unit…the St Charles Techs with ?@OFNHP,” and a picture of herself and the plane she would be traveling in.

After she shared the post, critics called her out for making a private, non-essential flight and holding in-person meetings.

“Teacher’s Union President taking a private jet for what would be a four hour drive. You truly can’t make this stuff up,” tweeted Andrew Wagner with the Minnesota House GOP.
