Caseloads and hospitalizations across most of the state are down. The tens of thousands of people who died were in some ways the result of an unspoken grand bargain — the price paid for keeping as many people as possible employed, educated and, some Floridians would argue, sane.

Governor DeSantis banned mask mandates and similar in September. He was immediately told by all the clucking people including Fauci and the media he was sentencing people to death who should not have to die. The other states including Tennessee, where I live, allowed mandates to stand, including the piece of crap mayor I have in this county, who kept his.
