The UK Government has just made a statement on the lethality of the Covid-19 virus:
If you are young and healthy there is nothing to fear.
Well, ok, that’s not exactly what they said.
Oh, wait, it is.
They are going to deliberately infect people from 18-30. This is a clear statement that they do not believe it is dangerous for those people to be infected, otherwise ethics would not permit such a study to be done.
Medical ethics boards do not allow you to deliberately put people in harm’s way. Therefore to be able to get the approval to run such a study the government has determined that statistically-speaking there is no material risk to these individuals.
