Chinese Hackers Charged by DOJ with Trying to Steal U.S. Virus Research

The U.S. Justice Department (DOJ) announced Tuesday it has charged two Chinese nationals with attempts to steal U.S. coronavirus research data and other information from businesses and federal agencies.

The suspects, 34-year-old Li Xiaoyu and 31-year-old Dong Jiazhi, are being accused of hacking into private and government computers both in the U.S. and other technologically advanced countries including Australia, Japan, Germany, South Korea, Sweden, the U.K. and others and stealing “terabytes of data,” according to the 11-count indictment filed against the two.
