If this week’s earnings calendar feels more overwhelming than usual, that’s because it is.
As many as 900 companies will report results this week, including 183 members of the S&P 500, according to Zacks Research. By Friday, a full 60% of the S&P 500 will have reported. Last week, 14 members of the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.15% reported, or nearly half of that price-weighted index.
“I’m surprised they didn’t make more use of today,” said Sheraz Mian, Zacks research director, noting that the bulk of this week’s flood of numbers are crammed into Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
