As metal prices continue to have a positive 2016 so far, Bear Creek’s chair says she thinks they’re not heading back down. ‘The corner has been turned,’ Catherine McLeod-Seltzer told Kitco News at the BMO Metals & Mining conference in Hollywood, Florida. ‘I am optimistic.’ McLeod Seltzer is also co-founder of Lucara Diamonds, the company responsible for discovering the world’s second largest diamond last year, and said she will be involved in more projects over the course of this year. Despite her optimism, McLeod-Seltzer said she is still concerned over the depleting reserves that many mining companies are experiencing. ‘If you’re not replacing reserves, you are coming closer to a finite end of life of your company,’ she noted.
