Seattle Police Chief Sends Simple Message to Businesses During Riots: You’re on Your Own

Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best issued a letter on Friday saying the Seattle Police Department (SPD) won’t be able to protect local businesses in the event of a protest due to a new city order that bans the use of standard methods the SPD employs against violent crowds.

The ordinance: In the letter, Best alerted businesses that the recently passed Seattle City Council Ordinance 119805 Crowd Control Tool goes into effect Sunday, July 26, even though Antifa groups have announced a coordinated “mass protest” for this weekend in multiple cities, including Seattle.
