Democrats on Wednesday staged a sit-in on the floor of the House of Representatives over a lack of gun laws following the Orlando massacre.
The House was put into recess as lawmakers started sitting in. Rep. John Lewis, a Democrat from Georgia and long-time civil-rights leader, said Congress lacked courage by not addressing gun violence.
“We have lost of hundreds and thousands of people to gun violence,” Lewis said. “Mr. Speaker, what has this body done? Nothing. Not one thing.”
