A group of Republicans in the House of Representatives are calling on Amazon Inc. to explain its recent removal of a book on transgenderism by conservative author Ryan T. Anderson.
Indiana Congressman Jim Banks, chairman of the Republican Study Committee (RSC) – a Republican House caucus which comprises 153 of the 435 members of the lower chamber – said in a statement to Fox News the RSC is “determined to protect the fundamental American right to free speech from ideological tyrants.”
“Amazon’s treatment of Ryan Anderson perfectly demonstrates the authoritarianism and insidiousness of Big Tech censorship,” Banks said. “His book offers the clearest, most thoroughly researched conservative perspective on the issue of transgenderism that I’m aware of. And that political issue is extremely relevant because Congress is debating it right now. That is why Amazon is desperate to shut him up.”
