California Governor Gavin Newsom blamed militant and right-wing groups like Proud Boys and QAnon conspiracy theorists for a recall petition which is likely to lead to an early election to defend his seat.
Rescue California, one of the groups behind the petition, has to gather at least 1.5 million signatures by March 17 to put the matter on the ballot.
[…] The group has so far collected more than 2 million signatures since starting in June, with the effort picking up steam in the fall and winter over the Democrat governor’s handling of the pandemic. In November, pictures surfaced online showing Newsom dining out with friends, in close quarters and without masks, while the majority of Californians were confined in their homes due to his lockdown measures.
In an appearance on “The View” Tuesday, Newsom addressed his concerns.
