MSNBC personalities on Wednesday slammed the Republican party for their response to the unrest at Capitol Hill, dismissing the GOP’s denunciation of the riot and violence that took place.
The GOP response: The chaos that unraveled on the Capitol yesterday was quickly condemned by both local and federal Republican lawmakers. President Trump joined the GOP is denouncing the riot, urging protesters to “go home,” remain peaceful, and respect the police on Capitol Hill.
“As a veteran, I’ve proudly fought for America’s right to protest peacefully. There is nothing peaceful about the chaos in Washington today. This is NOT who we are,” said Republican New York State Senate Minority Leader Rob Ortt.
“I condemn the violence and destruction that is taking place in our nation’s capital in the strongest possible terms. While our country cherishes peaceful protest, this current behavior is unacceptable and has no place in a democracy,” said Rep. Chris Jacobs (R-NY).
