For how many years now have I warned people about this sort of thing?

You know, cloud this, cloud that, outsource this and that when it comes to IT?

A very quick search here finds roughly a dozen articles on it over the years, all making the central point that there is no such thing as a secure cloud infrastructure that uses someone else’s stuff. Ever. It’s even worse if anything is closed source and you bought it from someone since you have no way to independently fix or even audit the code in question.

Yes, it’s cheaper. It’s cheaper for a reason; you have deliberately refused to do the work to make sure it’s secure.

That’s why it’s cheaper.

“SaaS” (Software as a Service) always presents this as their “business case” but they never tell you that.
