Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) on Monday triggered accusations of anti-Semitism over her response to Joe Biden’s pick for the position of Secretary of State.
How we got here: On Monday, Biden revealed some of his key cabinet picks and nominees. He was initially expected to announce his decision on Tuesday but some of his choices were reported in the media earlier in the day. One of the names that attracted the most reactions was his nominee for Secretary of State, Antony Blinken.
Blinken’s nomination was also teased over the weekend.
Tlaib’s reaction: The Michigan lawmaker appeared wary of Blinken in her tweet about the president-elect’s pick for the Secretary of State role. The post suggested that Tlaib would support this decision as long as he does not try to silence her in expressing her criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu. She also called Netanyahu’s policies “racist and inhumane.”
