DA Said Brooks Did Not Pose a Threat for Pointing Taser, but Previously Called a Taser a ‘Deadly Weapon’

The District Attorney for Fulton County said his office concluded that Rayshard Brooks did not pose a threat at the time of his death even after charging two officers for pointing a Taser stun gun in a separate case.

The DA’s comments: “We’ve concluded at the time Mr. Brooks was shot that he did not pose an immediate threat of death or serious physical” injury to the officers, District Attorney Paul Howard told the press on Wednesday. “I don’t know if you can see it clearly,” he said, pointing to footage of the incident. “The prongs from the taser were actually fired above Officer Rolfe here.”
