Dow Futures Fall Ahead of Memorial Day Weekend as Investors Watch China-U.S. Tensions

U.S. stock-index futures late Thursday pointed to modest losses Friday but a strong weekly gain, as investors look ahead to a three-day weekend. Equity benchmarks will look to defend their sharp weekly gains amid rising Sino-American tensions and a holiday that could test the bounds of reopening efforts from coronavirus lockdowns underway in much of the country.

How are benchmarks trading?

Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average were off 167 points, or 0.7%, at 24,209, those for the S&P 500 index were down 20.40 points, or 0.7%, at 2,916.50, while Nasdaq-100 futures declined 69.50 points to reach 9,286.25 a fall of 0.7%.
