According to Tara, the Founding Fathers were very wise in creating the Electoral College. This equalized the electoral power of small and large states. It wasn’t a racial maneuver, but rather a means of forcing candidates to pursue the votes of large and small states. While there have been a number of close call elections, where the popular vote winner failed to win the presidency, overall it has prevented larger bouts of unrest from occurring.
