Donald Trump has widened his lead in Ohio over Hillary Clinton, according to a new poll that rarely favors Trump.
The poll, conducted over the weekend by Selzer & Co. and sponsored by Bloomberg Politics, shows Trump leading Clinton by 44 to 39%, with Johnson pulling 10% and Stein 3%.
Trump’s result is being led on by the Republican incumbent Senate candidate, Rob Portman who was early on though to be in trouble but is not crushing his opponent, Ted Strickland, the former governor, by a 53 to 36% margin.
Trump’s 5 point lead is his biggest of the year in the must-win state of Ohio, which, only a month ago was still in doubt.
The poll was started the day after the televised Commander-in-Chief forum, which Trump was generally considered the winner; and ran until the day after Clinton’s 9/11 collapse.
