Republicans close to Donald Trump are planning an “intervention” aimed at resetting his campaign amid a political firestorm that has ensnared the controversial presidential nominee, according to a published report.

NBC News said former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, along with Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, are among the Trump allies who want to convince Trump to shift his tactics.

The report comes after Trump lashed out at a Gold-Star family critical of his position on Muslim immigration and went on to decline to endorse House Speaker Paul Ryan for re-election.
