Democrats in the House are proposing sweeping changes to the language used in the chamber that would remove gender terms.
The story: The majority in the House on Friday put forward rules for the new 117th Congress. In addition to pushing for gender neutral language, they want to ban committees from posting any amendments considered at mark-up online within 48 hours of consideration, prohibit Republicans from amending a bill at the last minute, according to the Washington Examiner, and establish a House “Office of Diversity and Inclusion.”
Democrats would also like to strip former House members convicted of crimes related to their service or election of floor privileges and make it a a violation of the Code of Official Conduct for a house member or employee to reveal a whistleblower’s identity.
