Facebook is cracking down on content related to the protest and violence that erupted on Capitol Hill on Wednesday.
In detail: In a blog post, the company said that it has been taking down videos and photos of protesters at the Capitol suggesting they fall under the category of content that incites or encourages “the events at the Capitol.”
“At this point they represent promotion of criminal activity which violates our policies,” Facebook noted.
The company has also been deleting content that expresses support or touts the breach of the Capitol complex, “calls to bring weapons to locations across the US,” calls for protests and efforts to organize or stage a similar protest in the following days.
