A book about “cancel culture” by feminist British journalist Julie Burchill won’t be published after some controversy broke over Burchill allegedly making Islamophobic statements on Twitter.
The story: The publisher, Little, Brown, said in a statement they’ve decided not to publish Burchill’s book, Welcome to the Woke Trials, which was set to go in print in April, claiming she “crossed a line” with supposedly Islamophobic comments she made to journalist Ash Sarkar online.
On Sunday, responding to comments Burchill reportedly made about the age of one of the Prophet Muhammad’s wives, suggesting he was a pedophile, Sarkar charged that the Daily Telegraph reporter “openly subjected me to Islamophobia” and while she said she is not upset, she found it “strange” that none of Burchill’s “colleagues or friends in the industry seem to have a problem with it.”
