ICE Deportation Flight, Criticized by Rep. Omar, Included Convicted Murderer, Rapist

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deportation flight to Somalia that Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) blasted last week included at least 36 convicted criminals.

The story: Acting ICE Director Tony Pham sent a letter to Omar, informing her that 36 out of the 39 Somalians on the deportation flight have been convicted of serious crimes, including rape, murder, sexual assault, and drug trafficking.

“This week, ICE removed 39 Somalia nationals, 36 of whom have criminal histories,” Pham wrote. “These crimes include murder, rape, domestic violence, assault, sexual assault, crimes against children, drug trafficking, and conspiracy to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization. These individuals have created countless victims and were serious threats to the public.”

The letter also featured a list of case backgrounds. Pham said they “should give you reason to applaud the good work ICE has done to protect the American people, including the people of the State of Minnesota.”
