Perhaps that notion that central banks are supposed to be free to act independently of the political sphere has reverted to myth, but considering the state of the world economy, their behavior is simply inexcusable.
Given the horrendous political divergences and the deplorable shape of many fiscal institutions within the EU, the ECB’s attempts to preside over an ever growing potential catastrophe appear futile. This has recently been exacerbated by Brexit leading to a morass of confusion encompassing political and fiscal actions.
In a number of SA articles since Brexit, I have cautioned readers to watch the banks.
