Still Report #912 – Glenn Beck Taken off SiriusXM

from Bill Still

lass=”” >The satellite radio broadcaster, SiriusXM, has suspended Glenn Beck for a week and possibly forever in response to comments calling for the assassination of Donald Trump.
The comments were made on May 25th on live air when fiction author Brad Thor claimed that Trump’s election would cause an “extinction-level event” in the U.S. Thor then declared that if Congress could not – or would not remove Trump legally through impeachment, then Thor suggested that he be assassinated:
“… what patriot will step up and do that….”
Beck agreed with Thor.

It was the second time that Beck has been accused of threatening Trump on air. On March 4, 2016, he talked about stabbing someone repeatedly if given the chance. The Secret Service immediately came to Beck’s studio in Texas to investigate, and Beck was cleared.
In last week’s incident, SiriumXM called the comments “irresponsible.”
“SiriusXM encourages a diversity of discourse and opinion on our talk programs. However, comments recently made by a guest on the independently produced Glenn Beck Program, in our judgement, may be reasonably construed by some to have been advocating harm against an individual currently running for office, which we cannot and will not condone.”
“For that reason, we have suspended The Glenn Beck Program from our Patriot channel for the coming week and are evaluating its place in our lineup going forward.”
Erick Erickson, a conservative pundit who once served as editor-in-chief for RedState, and was a political contributor for CNN, and recently has been associated with hunt for a last second candidate to oppose Trump, published an article on Beck’s website titled “SiriusXM Proves to be Run By Cowards.”
Brad Thor denied he intended any threat against Trump in a lengthy Facebook post:
“Clearly … I was putting my thriller writer hat on and positing a hypothetical scerario….”
I’m still reporting from Washington. Good day.
