The Krispy Kreme Sale is About Coffee, Not Doughnuts

Perhaps, you’ve enjoyed Krispy Kreme doughnuts, but you probably wouldn’t spend $1.35 billion on them, like JAB Holding just did.

JAB is a German food and drink conglomerate, and it’s been on something of binge lately.

In 2012, it paid $974 million for Peet’s Coffee & Tea and $340 million for Caribou Coffee. And last year, it broke the bank on $13.9 billion takeover of Keurig Green Mountain.

It also also owns Espresso House, the largest branded coffee shop chain in Scandinavia, Baresso Coffe, the first and largest branded coffee shop chain in Denmark, and Netherlands-based Douwe Egberts.
