61-year-old teacher Felix Coss was killed while legally crossing the street in a crosswalk with the right of way. NYPD Officer Paula Medrano drove a police van right into him. Eyewitnesses say she was on her cellphone at the time, not paying attention, even though she was on duty. The NYPD’s official response: blame Coss, saying he ‘voluntarily performed and engaged in the alleged activity and assumed the risk of injuries or damages claimed.’ The Resident breaks it down.
